Process

I have mixed feelings about the interview process. I had two encounters with the company for two different positions:

  1. Recruiter Screening and Hiring Manager Interview: This involved a recruiter screening, followed by an interview with a hiring manager. The manager asked questions about my experience, plans, team collaboration, and mentoring. A few days later, a recruiter informed me that I was not selected to move forward. Detailed feedback was not provided, which is understandable at this stage.

  2. Technical Interview: This process began with a different recruiter screening, followed by a technical interview. Initially, the interviewer seemed to have missed the scheduled meeting. After I contacted the recruiter, it was rescheduled. To my disappointment, it was a LeetCode-style interview with a task unrelated to real-world job scenarios. It felt as though memorizing and reciting a solution was expected. The interviewer showed little interest in discussing my approach to the problem. I did not complete the coding task. The interviewer also asked questions about company culture, not in a conversational manner, but simply to fulfill a requirement. A few days later, the recruiter notified me that I was not selected due to the technical interview results.

I also attended an event at Workday's office, which was very enjoyable. I had the opportunity to speak with employees and hear from leaders. However, the emphasis on "curiosity and problem-solving" during interviews, as mentioned, did not align with my experience. They mentioned they would send a feedback form/questionnaire and acknowledge attendees' interest, but weeks passed without it being sent.

Coupled with the interview experiences, this left a peculiar overall impression, especially after watching a video where an employee expressed immense passion for working at Workday. I still believe the company values its people, but it's possible this culture is difficult to scale and might be limited to headquarters.
