Sr Associate Software Engineer Interview Experience - United States

Process

A recruiter reached out and conducted a screening over the phone. I then went through the following interviews:

  • Interview with the hiring manager (45 minutes)
  • Technical Assessment interview (HackerRank, 45 minutes)
  • Three 45-minute interviews covering technical expertise, learning agility, and company values
  • Final interview with the hiring manager (the same manager from round 1)

After completing this process, I received an automated rejection letter stating the reason was technical skills. However, the interviewers who assessed my technical skills (rounds 2 and 3) endorsed me, according to their own words and what the recruiter conveyed during a follow-up.

I am very disappointed with the outcome, especially since the entire process took a month and the explanation provided did not make sense. During the final interview, I was told I would hear back in 2-3 days after they re-synced with the team, but the automated rejection arrived the same day. I do not believe any re-syncing occurred.

This was a very disheartening experience because the interviews themselves went very well, and I enjoyed speaking with the team members for the role.
