Pros: Oath is great for the relaxed environment, decent salary/benefits, and generally good co-workers. Working here is very much like college: you only get what you put in. Yes, you can totally skate by without putting in much effort or hours, but if you push yourself, there is always someone around you can learn from.

Cons: One of the worst parts about working here is you grow numb to the constant stresses. There is always something important "due yesterday". Then there is always a lurking air of uncertainty. It's not too often, but it is just enough that it doesn't leave your mind; they like to do layoffs in waves without much forewarning. There is usually an eerie silence in the office for a few days afterwards, then people move on. Other smaller issues are: * They want you to go to conferences and take classes, but when you submit your request, there is either a budget freeze or a project that takes priority. * They want you to do R&D, to learn new things, but they never formally give you time to do so. You get used to the broken promises, too.

Pros: Lots of interesting projects to support digital media brands. Good compensation and a flexible, modern, casual environment. There used to be a lot of grassroots employee-driven outlets for fun sports and activities after work, but those did drop off in the last 2 years due to downsizing in Dulles. I still see job postings there, but I suspect that Dulles teams are at the mercy of overall future direction. For that, I'm not quite sure how to rate the stability of the career opportunities. Despite all this, Tim (CEO) always works hard and seems to genuinely care for employees. It's more the luck of the draw that he has to give more opportunities to Yahoo as the latest acquisition to implement his vision, given that they are the bigger acquisition.

Cons: Lots of projects and management authority are given to the Yahoo side in Sunnyvale, so there are only pockets of work at the former AOL campus. Big layoffs in the last year have definitely left a lot of uncertainty with those remaining. From what I understand, there are pending discussions as to what to do with the Dulles campus, since there are so many empty spaces.

Pros: Fast-paced, dynamic environment. Direct internet impacts from your work. Free food.

Cons: Lots of challenging deadlines lead to lots of work hours.
