Process

I was interviewing with Yahoo's San Francisco office from 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM.

There were four rounds for the onsite interview:

  • One system design
  • One database design
  • Two algorithm problems

All interviewers were really nice and tried to lead the candidate in the right direction. They focused on how you approached the problems and how deeply you knew about website architecture through their questions.

Questions

  1. How to design an Amazon shopping cart that users can access their orders across devices?

  2. Find a target value in a binary tree recursively and iteratively.

  3. Design a Twitter newsfeed and relationship database schema and answer some queries, e.g.: Find the 10 most recent tweets from close friends.

  4. Two Sum problem.
