There used to be a lot of grassroots employee-driven outlets for fun sports and activities after work, but those did drop off in the last 2 years due to downsizing in Dulles.
I still see job postings there, but I suspect that Dulles teams are at the mercy of overall future direction. For that, I'm not quite sure how to rate the stability of the career opportunities.
Despite all this, Tim (CEO) always works hard and seems to genuinely care for employees. It's more the luck of the draw that he has to give more opportunities to Yahoo as the latest acquisition to implement his vision, given that they are the bigger acquisition.
Lots of projects and management authority are given to the Yahoo side in Sunnyvale, so there are only pockets of work at the former AOL campus. Big layoffs in the last year have definitely left a lot of uncertainty with those remaining. From what I understand, there are pending discussions as to what to do with the Dulles campus, since there are so many empty spaces.
Determine and publicize the plan for Dulles, so that people can prepare best what to do for themselves and their families.
