Pros
  • Work-life balance, flex time, WFH. If it weren't for the great work-life balance, I would've left a long time ago!

  • Good compensation. Not as competitive as "top" tech firms, but still above average and much more stable than startups. Not a bad place to stay for a year or two.

  • Catered breakfast & lunch

Cons
  • Few opportunities for career advancement, which is getting worse because of uncertain business prospects.
  • Very hierarchical and territorial.
  • The vast majority of employees seem to be "resting and vesting". It's fascinating how much time is spent doing nothing (or net nothing, because we waste a year building something to only find out users hate it).
  • They are cost cutting. I don't know if the pros I listed above apply to new hires.
Advice to Management

You can say things like "building a company talent loves" all you want, but there's no way I could convince my friends at "top" tech companies to work for Oath. Talent wants to get things done, make an impact, and be rewarded accordingly. They also want to work with others who feel the same way.
