I live in Canada. During the initial chat, I was given a salary range in US dollars for the position I was interviewing.
After going through the interview process, I received an offer for the bottom of the range number in CANADIAN dollars, which means it was:
When I received the offer, I honestly thought this was a mistake. However, Zapier confirmed that the amount is correct.
Because of the misleading information I was provided, I wasted about 10 hours working on the assignment plus sitting in video calls, not including several more hours spent on constant email back and forth regarding scheduling interviews and other process-related questions.
The interview process consisted mostly of interviewers reading a question off of a pre-compiled list and writing down your response.
The take-home assignment required me to make a pretty complex app from scratch. The description said "please don't spend more than 2.5 hours on the assignment"; however, there was no boilerplate code provided, and setting up DB connection, web server, caching, testing setup, etc. took me about 2 hours. In total, the assignment took me about 4.5 hours to complete.
LOTS of experience/behavioral questions.
Coding take-home assignment.
