I was an initial QA founding team member
We set up a good culture. We hired all capable QA and SDET. There was lots of bounding and a smooth process. There was lots of learning and responsibility.
- Got toxic after layoff of a few initial members.
- Others were asked to leave after hiring an incapable EM.
- Many people joined and left the leadership team, and no one knows the actual reason.
- Toxic work culture while leaving. The leadership team openly insulted EMs and leads.
- Got so toxic that they stopped promoting existing old members and asked them to work over the weekend for hiring and other ad-hoc tasks.
- Hire capable EM and leaders.
- Get rid of so much internal politics.
- Promote deserving candidates based on work done.
