I am very disappointed with the interview. I was expecting an interesting conversation about backend topics like databases, services, architecture, best practices, etc. However, the interview ended up being fully focused on a HackerRank test that could have been sent to me beforehand, as there was no actual conversation during the implementation. I had to prompt my interviewer for most of the discussion.
I have experience with interviews at a good number of companies, and based on Zillow's employee count, I was expecting an engaging interview. Instead, it turned out to be one of the worst technical interviews I have ever had.
In my opinion, either the interviewer was not prepared for the call, or perhaps the decision to reject me was made before the interview even started. Either way, it was a waste of time for both of us.
Solve a HackerRank problem.
