Pros: Witnessing tremendous growth, but still maintaining rock-solid culture. Really like how management cares about employees and listens. Employee surveys are taken seriously, and actions are taken based on that. Innovation is at the core of the company. Always thinking big and moving fast to achieve those goals. It is hard to see from the outside, but that is the reason Zillow dominates the markets and competition keeps playing catch-up. Pretty much still a bottom-up approach, with small teams driving awesome products. There is a level of autonomy given to engineers. Work-life balance is great. I really like how we do all release activities during the daytime with almost no downtime to the live site. We have a really efficient operations team that makes this happen (they can be a little stubborn at times, but they need to keep Zillow running -- understandable). That means no on-call for developers.

Cons: Mostly due to the flat organizational structure, it's hard to see clear career progression.

Pros: Work/Life Balance - Never expected to work ridiculous hours. Tough Mudder. Talent Show. Happy Hours. Morale Events. I never watch the clock while I'm at work. Everyone here is intelligent and hard-working, without a political "let me take credit for that" attitude. I've always been trusted to do good work and given the credit for my contributions without feeling cheated or taken advantage of. Hackweeks! Zillow wants me to succeed, so I want us to succeed.

Cons: No dogs allowed! Though our CEO has conveyed a personal wish for dogs, the building won't allow it, which is a bummer. Maybe someday if we occupy enough floors!

Pros: The people I have worked with so far are the best and the brightest I've ever met. Zillow stays true to itself and its employees by hiring the best and providing a great environment for them to do their best.

Cons: It's often cloudy for some or all of the day in Seattle.
