Process

Typically, the process begins with a phone screening by a recruiter, followed by multiple rounds of technical interviews.

Recruiters are very friendly and genuinely seem to want to help you, not just place you in a role. If you advance past the recruiter stage, you’ll have a one-on-one technical screening interview.

Most companies present a coding problem, say "go," and then observe you for an hour as you struggle. At Zoom, the interviewing engineer aims to help you find the solution. They will guide you toward the correct answer, understanding that the interview is more about assessing your collaborative potential than your ability to solve a random coding question in an hour.

If you pass this stage, you proceed to the "on-site" interview, which is quite challenging. This interview usually involves four or more engineers and lasts several hours. They ask in-depth questions about your experience, present coding problems, and more.

Be prepared to complete this entire process at once, and do not hesitate to ask questions!

I had multiple other offers when Zoom reached out. My recruiter was able to schedule all my interviews to be completed within a week. They are certainly willing to accommodate you if needed.

Questions

Multiple coding questions, some theory/architecture questions, some "how would you build this" questions, and some in-depth questions about the primary language(s) your role will be using (Java, Node.js, etc.).
