I applied online, and a recruiter reached out the same day. We conducted a basic phone screen, after which I received an email with questions that very much belonged in an interview. These included "Tell me about a challenging problem you solved" and "Why do you want to work for ZI?" I swallowed my pride and answered. Moreover, they required me to take an online IQ test, which I frankly found insulting.
Following that, I spoke with one of the engineers and answered some simple technical questions, covering system design and some easy LeetCode problems. One thing to note is that the interviewer picked the programming language. I had been doing all my preparation in Python, like most engineers do, and the different syntax threw me off.
After that interview, the process took a turn. The recruiter repeatedly scheduled and rescheduled follow-up interviews. He would offer me a time slot for the following day and then disappear for days on end when I indicated that I could not accommodate such short notice. This happened multiple times. In general, getting information from him was like pulling teeth.
After the last scheduled interaction, I withdrew my application. This was an extremely unprofessional process, and I feel my time has been wasted. If the company is run anything like the interviews are, I would recommend staying far, far away.
