Process

After I applied on their website, the recruiter called me for this role, and this is how the conversation went:

Recruiter: Hey, you applied for this role? Me: Yes, I did. Can we talk a bit more about the role? R: There is nothing much to talk about. You applied, so you should have read it. Me: Okay. R: Can you share your current compensation? Me: Sorry, I am not comfortable sharing it right away. Can you share what exact level you are considering me for, and will you be comfortable sharing the range instead?

R: I have called directors and VPs of various organizations, and everyone shares their compensation with me. If you cannot share, we cannot move ahead.

Me: It's great that everyone shares that information with you, but please don't compare me with them. Please politely disagree if you don't feel comfortable. I have never had this sort of experience with any other recruiter.

R: I have also not seen any candidate like this. Since you don't want to proceed, let's end it.

Summary

This was the most weird call I have had with any recruiter or with anyone for that matter. Only God knows how they hire such rude recruiters who don't know how to build relationships with candidates or want to take it forward. They should be more humble in their conversation.

Questions
