Site Reliability Engineer

37signals is hiring a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) for our Operations team to help us deliver fast and reliable applications to our customers— Basecamp, HEY, and our ONCE product line. Our Operations team led our effort to leave the cloud and is now dedicated to running our applications in our data centers efficiently and for the long term.

The job involves making systems run smoothly and reliably, considering and mitigating potential issues before they occur. You'll be part of an on-call rotation, which may include responding to incidents during off-hours.

Recent projects include:

• Integrating and optimizing rspamd for mail pipelines
• Practicing incident response procedures
• Provisioning and load testing on-premise servers
• Managing database schema changes
• Supporting deployments using Kamal
• Improving monitoring with Prometheus and Grafana
• Deploying and operating MySQL database clusters

You'll work with a globally distributed team, maintaining both new and legacy applications. The role requires familiarity with Linux, MySQL, Redis, ElasticSearch, S3, Ruby on Rails, Postfix, and Kamal. You should be comfortable with Unix, networking concepts, and programming in Go or Ruby.
