Job Description

This role sits within the Laboratory Automation division, specifically at Abbott Automation Solutions GmbH. The position involves developing innovative embedded firmware solutions for laboratory automation products, with a focus on microcontroller control systems and various technologies including NFC, CAN, Ethernet, sensors, and actuators.

As part of R&D/Electrical & Electronics Development, you'll be responsible for the entire software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis to series production.

Responsibilities For Embedded Software Developer

  • Analyze and document requirements with various stakeholders and colleagues, and support the product from idea to series production
  • Develop maintainable software architectures for embedded systems
  • Design, create and verify firmware for a sample transport system with self-driving units and switch systems
  • Ensure integration of firmware modules into the overall system and testing in the complete system
  • Create tests (HIL, Unit Test) and documentation of medical devices in a regulated development process
  • Close collaboration with interdisciplinary project groups and international teams
  • Analyze and fix errors

Requirements For Embedded Software Developer

  • Completed degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or comparable qualification
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience
  • Very good knowledge in designing, implementing and analyzing embedded software, RTOS and common development environments
  • Experience in programming microcontrollers and CAN-bus systems
  • Independent, structured, responsible work style and team ability
  • Fluent in German and English
