Job Description

Abbott is seeking a System Engineer I to join their Heart Failure team, focusing on the CardioMEMS HF portfolio. This role involves working with implantable sensors, external reader systems, mobile applications, and cloud-based web applications to help monitor and manage heart failure patients. The position offers an opportunity to work on life-changing medical technology that directly impacts patient care and outcomes.

As a System Engineer, you'll be responsible for defining, designing, testing, and integrating various components of the CardioMEMS HF System. The role combines hardware and software elements, requiring a strong technical foundation and systematic approach to problem-solving. You'll work with cross-functional teams to ensure product safety, efficacy, and compliance with medical device regulations.

Responsibilities For System Engineer I

  • Analyze and translate input requirements for medical devices into system requirements and interface specifications
  • Participate in cross-functional review of design documentation
  • Plan and develop system evaluation and testing activities
  • Simulate and test new products or algorithms
  • Execute verification procedures and document results

Requirements For System Engineer I

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Biomedical, Mechanical, Computer, Electrical, or Software), Computer Science, or related discipline
  • 10% travel required
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills
