Job Description

Accenture is seeking a Mainframe Software Junior Developer for an entry-level position focused on mainframe technologies and mission-critical systems. This role involves working with COBOL-based applications in a z/OS environment, requiring skills in SQL, DB2 databases, and IBM MQ messaging systems. The position is based in major Australian cities (Melbourne, Canberra, or Sydney) and requires Australian citizenship due to security clearance requirements.

The role offers a unique opportunity to work on large-scale enterprise systems while developing expertise in both traditional mainframe technologies and modern development practices. You'll be part of a team that values innovation and continuous improvement, working on projects that make real impact for clients and communities.

Key technical areas include COBOL programming, DB2 for z/OS, RACF security management, and IBM MQ integration. The position involves hands-on development, debugging, and performance tuning, as well as collaboration with cross-functional teams. Additional responsibilities include system documentation and supporting modernization initiatives using Micro Focus tools.

This is a managed services role requiring flexibility with rotating shifts and on-call duties. The work arrangement is hybrid, with 4 days per week onsite at the client's office. Accenture provides comprehensive training, mentorship, and professional development opportunities, making this an excellent starting point for a career in enterprise software development.

As part of Accenture's team of over 775,000 professionals worldwide, you'll benefit from a culture that values diversity, inclusion, and continuous learning. The company offers various progressive policies supporting work-life balance and professional growth. This role particularly suits candidates interested in building a career at the intersection of traditional enterprise systems and modern software development practices.
