Description For Software Engineer, Early Career

Affirm, a company reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, is seeking an Early Career Software Engineer to join their team in Chicago. This exciting opportunity is part of a new hybrid office program launching in summer 2024, designed for computer science or related majors.

As an Early Career Software Engineer at Affirm, you'll be at the forefront of shaping the future of finance. The role offers a unique blend of in-office and remote work, with a requirement to work from the office three days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) during the first year. This setup allows you to collaborate closely with your team, fellow early career Affirmers, and your engineering mentor while also enjoying the benefits of remote work.

You'll be paired with an engineering mentor who will work alongside you and meet with you weekly, providing invaluable guidance and support as you grow in your career. Past projects at Affirm have included developing in-store products, building batch data pipelines to improve loan origination processes, and overhauling the company's cryptography platform.

The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience. You should be proficient in at least one programming language such as Python, Java, or JavaScript, and have familiarity with deployment and automated testing frameworks. Affirm values collaboration and passion, so you should be able to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment and have a drive to improve consumer banking.

Affirm offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary range of $115,000 - $170,000 per year (depending on location), equity awards, and comprehensive benefits. These benefits include fully covered health insurance premiums for you and your dependents, flexible spending wallets for various needs, generous time off, and an employee stock purchase plan.

Join Affirm and be part of a company that's not just changing finance, but also providing a supportive and flexible environment for early career professionals to thrive and make a real impact.
