Description For Staff Security Engineer, EMEA

Airbnb is seeking a Staff Security Engineer to join their Threat Detection and Response (TDR) team in EMEA. This role is part of the front-line team responsible for detecting, investigating, and responding to security threats and malicious activity. As a senior member of the growing TDR team, you'll have the opportunity to define and execute novel approaches to threat detection and incident response while mentoring team members.

The position offers a unique chance to make a significant impact at a global technology company that has facilitated over 2 billion guest arrivals worldwide. You'll be working with the latest security technologies and frameworks, using tools like Python, AWS, and SQL to build and optimize security capabilities.

Responsibilities For Staff Security Engineer, EMEA

  • Lead complex security investigations and develop scalable tools
  • Mentor team members in forensic analysis and incident response
  • Resolve critical incidents as an escalation point
  • Conduct root cause analyses
  • Design and optimize advanced threat detection systems
  • Define and drive strategy for threat detection and incident response

Requirements For Staff Security Engineer, EMEA

Python
  • 10+ years of hands-on technical experience in security engineering, systems engineering, software engineering, network engineering, or privacy engineering
  • 8+ years of experience in incident response including host and cloud forensics
  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical field or equivalent practical experience
  • Ability to lead people in complex, ambiguous situations
  • Ability to work calmly and collaboratively in critical situations
  • Outstanding organisational, prioritisation, and multitasking skills
  • Experience automating security detection and response
  • Knowledge of Python, AWS, SQL
