Airbnb is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for their Media Foundation team. As part of the Application Foundation Org, you'll collaborate to build and improve the foundation powering products across Airbnb. You'll work on Airbnb's next-gen Media infrastructure, unlocking immersive product features. Your role involves shaping technical vision, delivering scalable solutions, and contributing to the full development cycle. You'll work cross-functionally, review code, provide feedback, and continuously improve your skills. Key responsibilities include ideating solutions for Airbnb's unique media hosting and processing needs. The ideal candidate has 9+ years of relevant software development experience, strong Java skills, excellent communication, and experience with image processing or video transcoding. Responsibilities For Staff Software Engineer, Media Foundation
- Work cross-functionally with product, design, and other engineering counterparts to execute on product and business strategy
- Build novel products and features that users will love
- Contribute to the full development cycle: technical design, development, test, experimentation, analysis, and launch
- Review code and design docs, give feedback on product specs and mocks
- Continuously learn and improve technical and non-technical abilities
- Ideate and prototype solutions that address concerns unique to Airbnb Media hosting and media processing
Requirements For Staff Software Engineer, Media Foundation
- 9+ years of relevant software development experience in a fast paced tech environment
- Strong software skills in Java
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work well within a team and with teams across the engineering, product & design organizations
- Passion for efficiency, availability, technical quality and system quality
- Experience working with image processing or content video transcoding
- Experience working with a microservice architecture at scale (preferred)
