Job Description

Airbus is seeking a Graduate Functional Validation Engineer to join their Spacecraft & Systems Engineering group in Stevenage. This role is part of the Airbus Global Graduate development journey, a personalized two-year program designed to cultivate professional skills, enhance business acumen, and develop technical abilities. The position involves working with groundbreaking space projects like the ExoMars Rover, Biomass, and Solar Orbiter.

As a Functional Validation Engineer, you'll be responsible for ensuring all functional verification activities are properly executed for spacecraft systems. You'll work within a team of 5-10 people, reporting to the Functional Validation Architect and Avionics Lead. The role combines hands-on technical work with spacecraft testing, verification, and validation activities.

The position offers unique opportunities to work on cutting-edge space technology while developing expertise in functional validation engineering. You'll be involved in complete test cycles, from specification to execution, working with both numerical test benches and hybrid hardware benches. The role includes significant responsibility for ensuring spacecraft functionality and mission readiness.

Responsibilities For Graduate – Functional Validation Engineer

  • Establish necessary configuration for FV tasks
  • Validate functional chains through end-to-end open loop tests
  • Validate nominal and reconfiguration functions through closed loop tests
  • Develop Automated Test Procedures (ATP)
  • Execute ATPs on various test benches
  • Analyze test data and compile test reports
  • Investigate anomalies and perform diagnosis
  • Interact with design architects, system engineers, and customers
  • Contribute to Functional Verification Infrastructure architecture

Requirements For Graduate – Functional Validation Engineer

  • Degree level or equivalent in a relevant field
  • Recently graduated or first professional experience in Aeronautical, Aerospace, Robotics Engineering, Electronic Design or related field
  • Strong verbal and written communication in English
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Self-awareness and drive for self-development
  • Eligibility for UK SC Security Clearance or BPSS check
