Job Description

Alliance Machine Systems International, LLC, a subsidiary of Barry-Wehmiller, is seeking an entry-level Controls Engineer I for their Spokane, WA location. This role combines software engineering and control systems expertise to support and develop automation solutions for corrugated box manufacturing machines.

The position offers an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate with a BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering to begin their career in industrial automation and control systems. You'll work on designing and implementing control systems, writing PLC code, and developing software solutions using various programming languages including VB.net and C++.

The role involves hands-on work with machine systems, requiring both technical expertise and practical problem-solving skills. You'll be part of a team that designs, tests, and maintains control systems for industrial machinery, gaining valuable experience in both hardware and software aspects of automation engineering.

Responsibilities For Controls Engineer I

  • Prepare and design wiring diagrams and electrical control circuits
  • Analyze electrical circuits (power, grounding and noise analysis)
  • Load software into machines and testing
  • Design software using UML techniques
  • Write and debug PLC or other higher-language code
  • Develop required documentation to support machinery and manufacturing
  • Develop Engineering models and drawings including Bills of Materials
  • Process Engineering releases, change orders, change requests
  • Assist in developing test plans to validate equipment
  • Provide production shop support
  • Perform machine quality inspections
  • Assist with machine installations and field troubleshooting

Requirements For Controls Engineer I

  • BS degree (EE, CE)
  • Experience with PLC and HMI platforms (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Visual Basic)
  • Experience with electrical schematic design software (ePLAN and PromisE)
  • Higher Level Programming Language experience (VB.net, C++, etc.)
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Good communication skills
  • Positive get-it-done attitude
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Willing to travel as needed
  • EIT preferred
