Job Description

Amazon is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to join their team in a highly automated Sort Center. This role focuses on fault-finding, troubleshooting, and improving controls solutions for automated material handling equipment. As a key technical expert, you'll work with conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, cameras, and various control systems. The position combines hands-on technical work with leadership responsibilities, including training engineering technicians and participating in continuous improvement projects.

The role requires strong expertise in PLC-controlled automation, with responsibilities spanning from daily operations support to strategic improvements. You'll work within Amazon's EU Controls network, collaborating with global teams to enhance monitoring capabilities and system performance. Responsibilities For Automation Engineer

  • Be the site level Subject Matter Expert for controls systems and sensors
  • Train technicians in control systems fault finding
  • Work within EU Controls network to enhance MHE metrics monitoring
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects
  • Maintain system documentation and backup libraries
  • Support installation and commission of new equipment
  • Support other sites in the EU network as needed

Requirements For Automation Engineer

  • 3+ years experience with PLC controlled automation and issue diagnosis
  • Bachelor's degree (or completing within one year)
  • Experience with conveyors and sortation systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot under high pressure
  • Knowledge of IEC 61131-3 code
  • Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Experience with material handling and monitoring
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, SolidWorks, Ignition, Visio and AutoCAD
  • English language proficiency at CEFR Level B2 or higher
