Job Description

Amazon's Operations division is seeking an Automation Engineer for their Reliability Maintenance & Engineering (RME) team. As an Automation Engineer, you'll be the site expert for automation systems, working closely with various teams including Operations, Engineering, and Safety. Your responsibilities encompass maintaining and troubleshooting complex material handling control systems, including PLC/PC controllers and industrial networks. You'll monitor metrics, provide technical support, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities For Automation Engineer, RNT9 SC RME

  • Site expert to maintaining automation systems necessary for operations
  • Work closely with building Operations, Operations Engineering, FC Start up Team, AFT Software teams
  • Understand, maintain and troubleshoot material handling control systems
  • Monitor MHE metrics and partner with maintenance/operations
  • Act as first level escalation support for site technicians
  • Appropriately escalate downtime situations to vendors or headquarters
  • Facilitate Failure Analysis and Incident Review processes
  • Perform, Utilize, and provide analysis building System Assessments
  • Communicate technical issues and project timelines with building leadership

Requirements For Automation Engineer, RNT9 SC RME

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation engineering, or equivalent OR 2+ years of equivalent professional experience
  • Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
  • Relevant experience with PLC-controlled automation and issue diagnosis
  • Familiarity with robotics work cells and its control systems
  • Familiarity with Ladder Logic and structure programming from Siemens, Allen-Brady, or Codesys PLCs
  • Advanced proficiency in verbal and written English
  • Familiarity with electrical theory, robotics, controls components, automated equipment
  • Ability to interpret and understand policies and procedures
