Job Description

Amazon's Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) team is seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer to join their Data team. The position involves working with both Business Intelligence and Data Engineering functions, providing comprehensive reporting solutions for workplace safety and regulatory compliance worldwide.

The role requires close collaboration with senior leaders and principal PMs to generate insights and analyze core metrics that influence organizational strategy. The successful candidate will need strong proficiency in complex SQL scripting, working with diverse data sets from multiple sources. They will be expected to work autonomously while maintaining high standards of ownership and quality in deliverables.

Key responsibilities include designing and implementing BI solutions, conducting deep dive analyses, automating reporting processes, and partnering with Data Engineering teams to enhance data infrastructure. The role offers opportunities to shape metric development and reporting strategies while driving best practices in data management.

Responsibilities For Business Intelligence Engineer, WHS Data

  • Contribute to the design, implementation, and delivery of BI solutions for complex problems
  • Conduct deep dive analyses of business problem statements
  • Identify opportunities and key criteria to drive analytical reporting and business strategy
  • Produce written recommendations and insights for key stakeholders
  • Simplify and automate reporting, audits, and other data-driven activities
  • Partner with Data Engineering to enhance data infrastructure
  • Develop and drive best practices in data integrity, consistency, analysis, validations, and documentation

Requirements For Business Intelligence Engineer, WHS Data

  • Bachelor's degree in BI, finance, engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics, finance or equivalent quantitative field
  • 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
