Description For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician, DCC Communities

Join AWS Infrastructure Services, the team responsible for designing, planning, delivering, and operating all AWS global infrastructure. As a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician, you'll be part of Earth's most customer-centric company, working with front-line responders who support some of the world's most powerful data centers.

Your role involves maintaining and operating critical infrastructure systems, including standby diesel generators, 3-phase electrical systems, mechanical equipment, and fire/life safety systems. You'll work alongside the brightest minds globally to implement cutting-edge technology and best practices.

The position offers hands-on experience with sophisticated data center equipment, including UPS units, PDUs, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, and building automation systems. You'll be responsible for preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and ensuring 24/7 reliability of these systems.

Responsibilities For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician, DCC Communities

  • Daily building rounds to monitor and record information from electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment
  • Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS)
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within internal SLAs
  • Perform rack installs and decommissioning
  • Perform PM, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Technical writing to support change management program
  • Monitor daily work requests and manage resolution
  • On-site support of contractors and vendors
  • Maintain and operate mission-critical data center facility equipment

Requirements For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician, DCC Communities

Linux
  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • Technical (Military/Trade School) training or 1+ years of electrical or mechanical experience
  • 1+ years experience with Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to lift up to 39 pounds independently
  • Physical ability to maintain balance and perform construction tasks on ladder
  • Ability to work in rotating 12-hour shifts
