Description For Data Center Facility Manager, Data Center Community

AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking an energetic Data Center Facility Manager to serve as a technical resource and leader within Amazon data centers. The role involves overseeing the operation and maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, and HVAC equipment within the data center, ensuring high reliability and performance while minimizing operating costs. Key responsibilities include managing 24x7 engineering technician teams, engaging in improvement projects, coordinating with third-party vendors, managing operations budgets, and serving as an on-call manager for regional data centers. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in data center operations, excellent understanding of critical systems, and strong people management skills. This role offers the opportunity to work on challenging problems in a diverse team environment, contributing to the continuous innovation and growth of AWS's global infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of the data center's critical physical infrastructure
  • Manage teams of 24x7 engineering technicians
  • Drive improvement projects from conception to completion
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors to ensure SLA adherence
  • Manage operations budget and expenditures
  • Serve as after-hours on-call Data Center Facility Manager
  • Communicate complex technical information to diverse stakeholders
  • Foster a diverse and inclusive team culture

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in data center operations
  • Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems in critical data center operations
  • Proven track record in people management and team development
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to understand broader contexts
  • Ability to maintain SLAs through proactive issue detection and reporting

Work Environment:

  • On-site management, five days a week (No remote work)
  • May involve working in noisy environments with proper PPE
  • Physical tasks including lifting and moving objects of varying weights
  • Support for multiple locations/sites
