Data Engineer Internship - 2026 (US)

Amazon is seeking Data Engineer interns for their 2026 program across various US locations. This full-time internship position involves working 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, typically between 8am-5pm in office. The role focuses on building data pipelines, designing tools and infrastructure for large-scale data analysis, and solving complex data warehousing challenges.

As a Data Engineer intern, you will:

• Design and implement distributed systems for log event collection and processing
• Create data schemas and manage SQL/NoSQL database systems
• Develop and maintain metrics, reports, and dashboards
• Build automated data pipelines processing millions of data points
• Optimize database and data warehouse performance
• Collaborate with Business Analysts and Data Scientists

The internship provides hands-on experience in data engineering, mentorship opportunities, and professional development. Interns will work on impactful projects while engaging with Amazonians and participating in various activities throughout their internship period.

Available start dates include:

• Winter (January/February 2026)
• Summer (May/June 2026)
• Fall (August/September 2026)

The position offers competitive compensation ranging from $91,200 to $185,000 per year depending on location, plus benefits and potential equity compensation. Candidates must be enrolled in a US academic program with at least one semester remaining after internship completion.
