Data Scientist, Japan Transportation Business Intelligence in Transportation Engineering & Science

Amazon Japan's Transportation division is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to lead a team focused on revolutionizing logistics through data science and algorithm development. The role involves leading a team of Data Scientists and Data Engineers to develop machine learning, optimization algorithms, and GenAI solutions. You'll be working on complex challenges in a rapidly growing organization, designing solutions from architectural level while collaborating with other engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead development of ML/heuristic models for high-impact business challenges
• Provide technical and project leadership using Scrum processes
• Establish engineering standards and operational metrics
• Make strategic decisions affecting organizational infrastructure
• Communicate effectively with all stakeholders
• Lead projects independently

The team focuses on three main missions:

1. Managing and maintaining large-scale Data Marts for trunk transportation analysis
2. Developing ML, optimization, and GenAI solutions
3. Creating data pipelines and dashboards for business insights

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree
• 2+ years data scientist experience

• Master's degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, or related field
