Job Description

Project Kuiper is Amazon's ambitious initiative to create a low Earth orbit satellite broadband network, aimed at delivering high-speed internet access to communities worldwide. As an FPGA Engineer in the Kuiper Payload team, you'll be at the forefront of developing cutting-edge FPGA solutions for satellite communications.

The role offers a unique opportunity to shape a groundbreaking system with minimal legacy constraints. You'll be responsible for creating digital designs for networking functions using state-of-the-art FPGA technologies and modern design processes. Working with system architects and various engineering teams, you'll develop, implement, and validate FPGA-based solutions that are crucial to Project Kuiper's success.

Key responsibilities include owning FPGA bitstreams, managing the complete development lifecycle from microarchitecture to silicon validation, and collaborating with multiple teams to integrate FPGA, firmware, RF, and networking functions. You'll drive trade-off analyses to optimize technology resources for cost, size, power, performance, and features.

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in FPGA design and implementation, with strong skills in System Verilog RTL coding and modern ASIC/FPGA design tools. You'll need to demonstrate expertise in uArchitecture, RTL coding, FPGA optimization, simulation, and validation. Experience with high-speed networking, SerDes, and Ethernet technologies is highly valued.

This position offers competitive compensation ranging from $129,800 to $212,800 per year, depending on location, plus comprehensive benefits including medical, financial, and other perks. Due to export control requirements, candidates must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or have legal refugee/asylum status.

Join Amazon Kuiper to be part of a team that's revolutionizing global internet connectivity through innovative satellite technology. Your work will directly impact millions of potential users worldwide who currently lack reliable internet access.
