Job Description

Project Kuiper is Amazon's ambitious initiative to revolutionize global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). As a Network Development Engineer on the Ground Infrastructure Operations team, you'll play a crucial role in building and maintaining the ground network infrastructure that supports millions of users worldwide.

The role combines network engineering expertise with software development, focusing on creating tools and automation to ensure high availability of Kuiper's ground infrastructure. You'll work at the intersection of networking and systems engineering, collaborating with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and optimize network solutions.

Key responsibilities include developing monitoring and automation tools, driving operational excellence initiatives, and providing critical support for the service. You'll be part of an international team spread across North America, Europe, and Australia, working together to ensure Kuiper's ground infrastructure is always available to serve customers.

The position offers unique challenges in scaling satellite communications infrastructure and requires expertise in internet routing protocols and Linux/Unix environments. You'll have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology that aims to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities globally.

This role is ideal for someone who combines strong networking knowledge with automation skills and has a passion for solving complex infrastructure challenges. You'll be part of a mission-driven team working to close the digital divide by delivering connectivity to consumers, businesses, and government agencies worldwide.

The position includes participation in an on-call rotation and requires the ability to obtain necessary export licenses due to the nature of the technology involved. Join Project Kuiper to help build the future of global satellite communications while working with cutting-edge technology at Amazon.
