Optical Network Development Engineer, Network Product Development - Optics

AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking an Optical Network Development Engineer to join their Network Product Development (NPD) team within the Core Networking team. This role involves building, deploying, and scaling Amazon networks that support AWS, customers, and other business units across multiple global data centers.

Key responsibilities include:

• Collaborating with vendors/manufacturers to evaluate new hardware and software features
• Creating implementation plans for incorporating new features into the network
• Automating optical test plans and qualifying optical modules
• Developing test plans for Optical Modules in collaboration with vendors/manufacturers
• Working with the network operations team to identify operational issues and improve quality and RMA processes

The role requires:

• Collaboration with internal partners to design and implement solutions that meet customer needs from cost, performance, and reliability perspectives
• Identifying and developing simple solutions to complex problems at a massive scale
• Actively managing a fleet of routers in a rapidly growing network
• Tracking key business and operational metrics to ensure smooth operations and minimize customer impact
