Job Description

AWS is seeking an experienced Principal Security Engineer to join their AWS Managed Services (AMS) team. This role represents a unique opportunity to shape security outcomes at scale for customers worldwide, combining deep technical expertise with high-impact customer engagement.

As a Principal Security Engineer, you'll work directly with CISOs, security executives, and engineering teams across a global customer base to understand their challenges and translate them into scalable technical solutions. You'll be responsible for designing and implementing security mechanisms that operate across thousands of AWS environments, contributing directly to improving customer security posture globally.

The role sits within AWS's Security organization, focused on enabling customer security outcomes through scalable engineering and deep technical engagement. You'll collaborate with AWS service teams, security specialists, and support organizations to build and scale security mechanisms that raise the bar for all customers. Your work will directly influence how AWS enables customers to prevent, detect, and respond to security threats at scale.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Designing and implementing scalable security solutions across diverse customer environments
  • Leading threat modeling and security posture reviews
  • Building automation and detection systems
  • Supporting multi-cloud security initiatives
  • Writing technical guidance and reference architectures
  • Engaging with customer executives and security leaders

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical security engineering experience, particularly in cloud environments, combined with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and navigate complex security domains. You'll need to be comfortable working across organizational boundaries, translating complex technical concepts for various audiences, and driving security outcomes at scale.

This position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge cloud security technologies, influence global security practices, and make a significant impact on AWS's security posture. You'll be part of a team that values mechanisms over heroics, engineering over opinion, and scale over manual effort, working alongside principal technologists and security leaders with a shared mission to secure the world's workloads.
