Job Description

Amazon Security is seeking an experienced and innovative Security Engineer to join their Vulnerability Management and Remediation Operations (VMRO) team in Sydney, Australia. This role represents an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on the security of one of the world's largest and most complex technology ecosystems.

The VMRO team plays a crucial role in Amazon's security infrastructure, being responsible for discovering, assessing, triaging, detecting, and driving the remediation of vulnerabilities across the entire Amazon ecosystem. As a Security Engineer I, you'll be at the forefront of protecting Amazon's vast digital infrastructure.

Your responsibilities will span across multiple critical security areas, including analyzing vulnerability disclosures, evaluating potential impacts, and understanding technical details of vulnerabilities affecting Amazon's infrastructure, services, and applications. You'll work closely with builder teams to implement security fixes and contribute to the development of automation tools and workflows to enhance team operations.

The role requires a strong technical foundation with at least 2 years of security engineering experience in vulnerability management or vulnerability signature detection development. You should be proficient in programming languages such as Python, Ruby, Go, Swift, Java, .Net, or C++. Knowledge of common vulnerability scanning tools and network security fundamentals is highly valued.

Responsibilities For Security Engineer I, Vulnerability Management and Remediation Operations

  • Review and analyse common vulnerability disclosures and assist in evaluating potential impacts
  • Understand technical details of vulnerabilities affecting Amazon's infrastructure, services, and applications
  • Help triage vulnerabilities and contribute to impact assessments and detection logic assessments
  • Collaborate with builder teams to implement security fixes and improvements
  • Implement and maintain vulnerability detection mechanisms

Requirements For Security Engineer I, Vulnerability Management and Remediation Operations

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity or related technical degree or equivalent; or 2+ years equivalent technology experience
  • Experience programming in Python, Ruby, Go, Swift, Java, .Net, C++ or similar object oriented language
  • 2+ years security engineering experience in vulnerability management or vulnerability signature detection development
  • 2+ years security engineering experience in system, network, and/or application security
