Amazon's AMXL (Amazon Extra Large) Japan team is seeking a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer to lead their analytics strategy for Heavy & Bulky logistics network. This role combines technical excellence with strategic leadership, focusing on transforming complex business challenges into data-driven solutions.
The position involves designing and implementing scalable data pipelines, automated reporting solutions, and robust BI infrastructure using AWS and internal tools. You'll be responsible for developing metrics frameworks and KPIs while partnering with senior leadership to drive business success. The role requires strong technical expertise in data engineering, analytics, and mentorship capabilities.
As part of the AMXL JP team, you'll work in a diverse environment alongside operations, supply chain, tech, finance, and other departments. The team is dedicated to improving and scaling operations for Amazon's Heavy & Bulky logistics network, focusing on customer satisfaction through special handling services like Room of Choice Delivery, Installation/Assembly, and Recycling/Haul-Away.
Your typical day includes participating in business reviews, collaborating with strategy & ops teams, designing data solutions, optimizing pipelines, and mentoring junior analysts. You'll create impactful analyses and dashboards while ensuring data quality across systems. Responsibilities For Senior Business Intelligence Engineer, AMXL JP
- Design and implement scalable data pipelines, automated reporting solutions, and robust BI infrastructure using AWS and internal tools
- Develop and maintain data quality standards, monitoring mechanisms, and governance frameworks
- Lead complex analytical projects from conception to deployment
- Own end-to-end analytics strategy and execution
- Lead the development of metrics frameworks and KPIs
- Coach and mentor junior team members
Requirements For Senior Business Intelligence Engineer, AMXL JP
- 5+ years of professional or military experience
- 5+ years of SQL experience
- Experience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data sets
- Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results
- Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills
- Experience with theory and practice of information retrieval, data science, machine learning and data mining
