Description For Senior Embedded Software Engineer – Avionics, Project Kuiper

Project Kuiper is Amazon's ambitious initiative to revolutionize global connectivity through a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites. As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer in the Avionics team, you'll be at the forefront of developing critical software systems that power these next-generation satellites.

The role offers a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge space technology while making a meaningful impact on global connectivity. You'll be responsible for developing software that enables, integrates, and operates various sensing, compute, and bus systems of the satellite system. This includes working with microcontrollers and bus systems like CAN, RS-422, RS-485, and Ethernet.

The position requires strong leadership skills as you'll be leading software architecture design reviews and ensuring Amazon's high development standards are maintained. You'll collaborate with top-tier engineers across multiple spacecraft design and integration teams, working on problems that haven't been solved at scale before.

  • Identify top level requirements and participate in all phases of embedded software development
  • Work with Avionics team to support hardware bring-up and debug
  • Develop both prototype and production software
  • Lead software and architecture design reviews

Requirements For Senior Embedded Software Engineer – Avionics, Project Kuiper

Linux
  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
