Job Description

AWS Managed Operations (MO) is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join their AWSOM team, focusing on reducing operational load and improving AWS Regions' reliability. This role combines day-to-day operations of AWS' massive software systems with long-term engineering initiatives to reduce operational toil.

The position is part of the AWS Utility Computing (UC) organization, supporting critical services like S3 and EC2, along with other innovative AWS products. The AWSOM team's mission is to drive security, availability, performance, and efficiency improvements across AWS Regions globally.

Key responsibilities include:

  • 8+ years of relevant systems engineering or systems administration experience
  • 5+ years of Systems Engineering, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering experience
  • 3+ years experience operating in a 24/7 production environment
  • 3+ years experience with scripting languages (Perl, Python, Ruby, PowerShell)
  • Experience with Operating Systems, networking, and storage systems
