Description For Snr. Systems Development Engineer, ESC Managed Operations

AWS is launching its first European Sovereign Cloud (ESC), a major advancement in utility computing. This role is part of the AWS Managed Operations team, focusing on building and leading operations for high-availability AWS services specifically for EU customers. The position combines systems development engineering with a strong focus on automation and operations.

As a Senior Systems Development Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of transforming AWS's global infrastructure operations. Your work will involve designing and implementing solutions that reduce operational complexity while ensuring high availability of critical services like EC2, S3, Dynamo, Lambda, and Bedrock. You'll create scalable automation systems and collaborate closely with various teams to improve operational efficiency.

The role requires strong technical expertise in software development, system operations, and network fundamentals. You'll need to be proficient in programming languages like Java, Python, or Ruby, and have experience with infrastructure automation and monitoring tools. Requirements For Snr. Systems Development Engineer, ESC Managed Operations

  • 5+ years of experience in software development or related field
  • Proficient in at least one modern programming language such as Java, Typescript, Python, or Ruby
  • Able to troubleshoot at all levels, from network to operating systems to software applications
  • Experience operating, troubleshooting, and performance tuning software applications
  • Strong understanding of network fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, load balancing, load shedding)
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Legal right to work in Ireland
