Software Developer (12 month Fixed Term Contract), Global Operational Excellence

Amazon's Global Operational Excellence (GOX) team is seeking a Software Developer for a 12-month fixed-term contract position that can be located in any of their sites or offices across EU/UK. This role is part of a team that develops Operational Excellence solutions and drives Amazon's growth in a cross-functional environment.

The position involves working with Cross Dock and Fulfillment Center Operations, Transportation, Analytics, and other stakeholders across the Supply Chain. As an OPS DEA Senior SDE, you'll be responsible for providing resources and expertise for statistical analysis and Machine Learning products, including frontend development. You'll work closely with Amazon Transportation Services (ATS-Sortcenter, -Linehaul), Amazon Logistics, and Global transportation services.

The role requires deep understanding of product flow and processes throughout the distribution chain. The EU OPS DEA team is known for creating solutions that significantly improve customer experience, with many of their developments becoming worldwide standards. You'll work across multiple business functions, including Operations, Finance, Technology, and Change management.

As an experienced developer, you'll be part of a team that consistently delivers well-tested and reviewed releases while responding quickly to customer needs. The position requires the ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and support various projects simultaneously. Success in this role depends on your ability to work with big data, contribute to both backend and frontend solutions, develop insightful analysis, and communicate findings effectively.

The Speed and Service Programs team, which you'll be part of, is responsible for One-Day plus (1D+) Speed, Delivery Estimate Accuracy (DEA), and On Road Delivery Service. This team plays a crucial role in improving performance in critical customer metrics and champions delivery speed across EU5 and Expansion countries.

The ideal candidate should have professional software development experience, strong programming skills in modern languages like Java or C++, and experience with object-oriented design. A bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent is preferred, along with experience in the full software development lifecycle.
