Job Description

AWS Edge Connectivity is a critical service that provides secure cloud connectivity options for US Intelligence and Department of Defense customers. This role sits at the intersection of cloud computing and network security, focusing on enabling customers to deploy and manage sensitive workloads in isolated environments.

As a Software Development Engineer in the AWS Edge Connectivity team, you'll be responsible for architecting and implementing sophisticated network security solutions that enable secure access to AWS's dedicated cloud environments. The role involves building scalable distributed systems that manage encrypted network connections, working with various networking protocols including TCP/IP, BGP, and IPSec.

The position requires a strong background in software development with at least 3 years of professional experience and 2 years of system design experience. You'll need to understand network encryption technologies and be able to work with Layer2/3 encryption protocols. The role requires obtaining and maintaining a TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.

The team operates in an Agile environment with daily stand-ups and regular sprint planning sessions. You'll participate in an on-call rotation approximately four times per year to maintain service availability. The work environment promotes work-life harmony and offers numerous opportunities for career growth and mentorship.

AWS values diversity and inclusion, offering employee-led affinity groups and various inclusion events to foster collaboration. The compensation is competitive, ranging from $129,300 to $223,600 based on location, plus additional benefits including medical coverage, 401k, and other financial benefits.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work on critical infrastructure that serves some of the nation's most important organizations while being part of AWS's innovative cloud computing environment. You'll be at the forefront of secure cloud connectivity, working with cutting-edge technologies and contributing to solutions that enable secure cloud access for sensitive government workloads.
