Job Description

Project Kuiper is Amazon's ambitious low Earth orbit satellite broadband network initiative, aimed at delivering fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers and communities worldwide. The Manufacturing Systems Engineering (MSE) team plays a crucial role in building standardized, automated, and scalable manufacturing systems for satellite production.

As a Software Development Engineer in the MSE team, you'll be at the intersection of software development and manufacturing operations, working on critical systems that enable efficient satellite production. The role involves developing solutions that automate production testing processes, reduce cycle times, and optimize setup/teardown procedures across all production sites.

The position requires expertise in programming languages like Python, Java, or Rust, along with proficiency in AWS cloud services including Lambda, IAM, SNS/SQS, DocumentDB, API Gateway, CloudWatch, and IoT. You'll be responsible for the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to implementation and operational deployment.

Key responsibilities include collaborating with factory planners and technicians to develop scalable software solutions, leading technical projects, and working with cross-functional teams including satellite software and hardware engineering teams. You'll be designing flexible solutions for complex manufacturing challenges while ensuring exceptional performance and reliability.

The role offers competitive compensation ranging from $129,300 to $223,600 based on location and experience, plus additional benefits including equity, sign-on payments, and comprehensive medical coverage. This position requires U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, or refugee/asylee status due to export control regulations.

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of professional software development experience, strong system design capabilities, and a passion for solving complex manufacturing challenges through innovative software solutions. You'll be joining a team that serves as the critical interface between engineering and production, ensuring seamless integration of software and hardware components in developing production-ready systems.

This is an excellent opportunity for a software engineer interested in working at the cutting edge of satellite technology and manufacturing automation, with the chance to make a significant impact on a project that aims to transform global internet connectivity.
