Description For Software Development Engineer, Project Kuiper

Project Kuiper is Amazon's ambitious initiative to revolutionize global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop software applications and services for an advanced global telecom service.

As a Software Development Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing, implementing, and operating globally available distributed systems focused on controlling, managing, and monitoring Kuiper's terrestrial devices. You'll work with cutting-edge AWS technologies while following industry-best software engineering practices.

The position is part of the Customer Engagement Systems team, which owns the frontend architecture and solutions for managing the complete customer lifecycle of telecom services. This includes identity and account management, subscriber management, billing and payments, customer support tools, and analytics.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to product strategy and UI presentation
  • Designing and implementing globally available cloud architectures
  • Collaborating with device software, satellite, networking, and security teams
  • Leading UI feature development from ideation through implementation
  • Ensuring compliance with Amazon's accessibility standards
  • Working closely with Product Managers and UX Designers
