Job Description

The Conversational Shopping team at Amazon is seeking a Senior Language Engineer to drive innovation in AI-assisted shopping experiences. This role involves developing scalable solutions for Large Language Models (LLMs), applying linguistic expertise to natural language processing challenges, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve the multi-lingual AI shopping experience.

Key responsibilities include:

Designing and leading editorial data production for AI shopping initiatives
Creating workflows and quality control mechanisms for editorial and annotation processes
Automating operations and performing data analysis using Python
Collaborating with editors, scientists, engineers, and product managers
Establishing training processes for editors

The ideal candidate will have:

A degree in Applied Linguistics, Computational Linguistics, or NLP
Strong experience in NLP, Machine Learning, or Large Language Models
Proficiency in Python, Regex, SQL, and Unix
Familiarity with annotation tools and workflows
Excellent communication and organizational skills

Design and lead editorial data production/collection for AI shopping initiatives
Define clear editorial workflows and quality standards
Develop control mechanisms, metrics, and methodologies for editorial and annotation quality
Maximize productivity and efficiency through streamlined workflows and process standardization
Produce, process, and analyze different types of language data
Automate operations using Python scripting

Requirements For Sr AI Language Engineer, Conversational Shopping

Python

Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Applied Linguistics, Computational Linguistics, Natural Language Processing (NLP), or related field
Strong experience in Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, or Large Language Models
Proficiency in Python
Knowledge of Regex, SQL, MS Excel, Git
Ability to navigate a Unix terminal and use common command line tools
Familiarity with annotation tools and workflows
Excellent communication and strong organizational skills
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative, and dynamic work environment
Willingness to support several projects at one time and accept reprioritization as necessary
