Description For Sr. Global Power System Engr., Datacenter Engineering, Power Generation Solutions

The Sr. Power System Planning Engineer for AWS Data Center Power Generation and transmission Infrastructure owns the successful delivery of the newest generations of data center energy innovations, and electrical power generation infrastructure technologies from concept to at-scale global implementation. This role provides a unique opportunity to engage with advanced infrastructure solutions for HV/MV power systems and the exceptional people that develop them.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. Key job responsibilities:

  • Define Power Analytics roadmap and associated solutions that inform Datacenter power quality and reliability by utilizing tools such as PSS/E, PSLF, EMTP and more to conduct a spectrum of studies, from such as load flow and transient capability.
  • Influence power system designs by conducting harmonic, grounding, insulation, T&D, FACTS, and HVDC studies and build architectures enabling net new capacity for our growing business.
  • Lead and deliver HV/MV/LV power strategy integrating and coordinating grid down to the power shelf/rack level for top class customer uptime.

Requirements For Sr. Global Power System Engr., Datacenter Engineering, Power Generation Solutions

Linux
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Eight (8) or more years performing Power Systems Engineering and Analysis or as a Power System Planner in an electric utility with Transmission system planning focused experience
  • Familiar with NERC, NPCC and ISO-NE transmission planning reliability standards
  • Understanding of ISO-NE Transmission Planning Process and Procedures
  • Ability to interface effectively and collaborate with clients, peers, project personnel, and all levels of management enterprise-wide
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering concepts such as reliability, load flow, stability, short circuit, voltage regulation, transients, power factor, losses, etc.
