Job Description

Project Kuiper is Amazon's ambitious Low Earth Orbit satellite broadband network initiative, aiming to provide high-speed internet to underserved communities worldwide. As a Sr. Network Development Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of building the routing and switching infrastructure needed to support a constellation of 3,236 satellites. This role combines network engineering expertise with cloud infrastructure, requiring deep knowledge of routing protocols and network architecture.

The position offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology, including space lasers, while developing the terrestrial interface for a global satellite network. You'll be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and operating network equipment that enables broadband systems worldwide. The role involves creating standards, selecting platforms, and ensuring network resiliency and scalability.

Working within the Kuiper Network Services team, you'll focus on connecting users worldwide to essential services, handling everything from address assignment to secure network functions. Responsibilities For Sr. Network Development Engineer, Kuiper Network Services

  • Design robust, scalable, maintainable, and adaptable networks
  • Select and test network equipment for new initiatives
  • Integrate solutions into existing highly available physical and cloud networks
  • Develop and document standards for network monitoring metrics
  • Mentor engineers and collaborate with other teams
  • Provide support and incident response as part of an on-call rotation

Requirements For Sr. Network Development Engineer, Kuiper Network Services

Linux
  • 8+ years of major internet routing protocols experience
  • 5+ years of working in a Linux/Unix environment experience
  • 3+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl experience
  • Thorough understanding of TCP/IP networking, IP routing, and Network Security architecture
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or refugee/asylee due to export control laws
