Amazon Web Services (AWS) Managed Operations (MO) organization, founded in April 2023, is seeking a System Development Engineer II to join their AWSOM Team. This role combines operational management of AWS's massive software systems with engineering initiatives to enhance reliability and efficiency. The position offers a unique balance of 50% operations and 50% system improvement work, focusing on AWS Regions' availability, reliability, and performance optimization.
The role involves working with some of the largest software systems ever built, tackling challenges in technical, business, and cultural transformation to improve reliability and efficiency. You'll be part of a best-in-class engineering and operations team responsible for AWS Regions' day-to-day operations, while also driving long-term engineering projects to reduce operational toil.
A typical week might involve root cause analysis of deployment failures, implementing fixes, executing critical production changes, and developing automation solutions to prevent future issues. The compensation is competitive and location-based, ranging from $116,300 to $201,200 per year, plus equity and additional benefits.
