Job Description

Project Kuiper is seeking an experienced Systems Development Engineer specializing in test automation to join their satellite bus & power systems team. This role sits at the intersection of hardware and software, focusing on verifying power system avionics hardware and power management algorithms.

The position involves developing automated test cases for hardware-in-loop testing, utilizing power emulation test racks and satellite flight hardware. You'll be working with a world-class team of engineers and business leaders in a fast-paced, intellectually challenging environment. The role requires expertise in modern programming languages, test automation frameworks, and Linux/Unix systems.

As a member of the Electrical Power Systems team within the Vehicle Engineering organization, you'll collaborate with a diverse group of engineers across multiple domains. Your responsibilities will include building test frameworks, developing regression test cases, and creating monitoring systems for test infrastructure.

The compensation is competitive, ranging from $116,300 to $201,200 per year depending on geographic location, plus additional benefits and potential equity. This is a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge space technology while building robust test automation systems that ensure the reliability of satellite power systems.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Developing and maintaining automated test frameworks
  • Creating regression test cases for satellite power subsystems
  • Building monitoring and alerting systems
  • Writing well-documented APIs
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • Working with hardware-in-the-loop testbed systems

The position requires U.S. citizenship or permanent residency due to export control laws. You'll be based in Redmond, WA, working with state-of-the-art satellite technology and contributing to the future of global internet connectivity through Project Kuiper's satellite network.
