Job Description

Anthropic is seeking experienced software engineers to join their mission of creating reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. This role spans multiple high-impact teams including Enterprise Engineering (Claude for Work), Public Sector Engineering (Claude for Government), API Developer Experience, and Growth Engineering.

The position offers an exceptional opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI applications while focusing on enterprise-grade features, security, and scalability. You'll be developing solutions that meet rigorous enterprise and government standards, implementing crucial security features, and creating developer tools that set industry standards for LLM applications.

The ideal candidate brings 4+ years of software engineering experience, with strong expertise in backend and full-stack development. Key responsibilities include building identity management systems, implementing compliance frameworks, and creating scalable solutions for enterprise deployment. You'll work in a collaborative environment, partnering with cross-functional teams including product, design, sales, and research.

Anthropic offers a competitive compensation package ranging from $300,000 to $485,000 USD, along with comprehensive benefits including equity options, flexible working hours, and visa sponsorship opportunities. The role follows a hybrid work model requiring at least 25% office presence in either San Francisco or New York City.

The company stands out for its approach to AI research, operating as a cohesive team focused on large-scale research efforts rather than smaller, specific projects. They value impact-driven work and view AI research as an empirical science, similar to physics and biology. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of safe and beneficial AI systems while working alongside leading researchers and engineers in the field.
