Description For Automation and Controls Engineer, Data Center
As a Data Center Automation and Controls Engineer at Apple, you will be part of a team designing and implementing solutions for high availability, critical Data Center facilities. You'll be responsible for designing and implementing systems for monitoring and control of the Data Center electrical and mechanical infrastructure, including Building Automation Systems (BAS), Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), Power Distribution Control System (PDCS), and Automatic Transfer Controls (ATC).
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing data center automation and control systems, including generator paralleling controls
- Developing detailed sequences of operations
- Configuring and programming systems or overseeing third parties providing the systems
- Troubleshooting controls and monitoring issues
- Supporting emergency response and performing corrective maintenance
- Optimizing systems and training operations personnel
- Following industry and Apple's safety requirements
This role requires a strong background in data center control systems, understanding of high availability electrical or mechanical systems, and proficiency in programming languages compliant with IEC 61131-3. You'll work on cutting-edge technology in a dynamic environment, contributing to the reliability and efficiency of Apple's data center infrastructure.

Requirements For Automation and Controls Engineer, Data Center
- 3+ years of experience with Data Center Control systems or similar field
- Understanding of high availability electrical or mechanical systems and their controls
- Ability to read and interpret electrical system, or mechanical system drawings
- Proficiency in programming languages and structures compliant with IEC 61131-3
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Software or Computer Engineering, or a related field or equivalent job-related experience
