Apple, creator of the world's most popular camera - the iPhone, is seeking a Camera Tuning & Image Quality Engineer to join their Camera SW Image Quality team. This role combines software engineering with photography expertise to enhance Apple's revolutionary camera features like Night Mode, Live Photos, Apple ProRAW, SmartHDR, and Portrait Mode.
The position requires a unique blend of technical expertise in image processing algorithms and camera systems, particularly focusing on the '3A's' and their impact on image quality. You'll work alongside world-class engineers to shape the image quality and user experience across Apple's device ecosystem.
As a Camera Tuning & Image Quality Engineer, you'll be responsible for tuning complex camera pipelines, performing detailed image quality analysis, and driving feature development from start to finish. The role involves working with cutting-edge technologies such as Deep Fusion, SmartHDR, and Night Mode, while providing crucial feedback to engineering teams.
The ideal candidate brings at least 2 years of relevant experience, strong programming skills in languages like C++, Python, or Swift, and a deep understanding of image processing algorithms. A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Imaging Science or Computer Engineering is required. Responsibilities For Camera Tuning & Image Quality Engineer
- Tuning and tweaking complex camera pipelines and algorithms
- Performing critical IQ analysis
- Driving feature development from conception to completion
- Contributing to technologies like Deep Fusion, SmartHDR, Night Mode, and Portrait Mode
- Participating in quality evaluations for new features and algorithms
- Providing direct feedback to engineering teams
Requirements For Camera Tuning & Image Quality Engineer
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in image quality testing, tuning, or image processing algorithms
- Strong understanding of 3A's, denoising, sharpening, fusion, and tone-mapping algorithms
- Technical familiarity with machine learning and image processing technologies
- Excellent photography, videography, and cinematography skills
- Proficiency in at least one of: C, C++, Objective-C, Swift, Python, or shell programming
- Bachelor's Degree in Imaging Science, Imaging Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Color Science, or related field
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
